Adelphi Paper Hangings, an archive of the historical wallpaper patterns in America and globally, has partnered with Kelee Katillac since 2016. Known for creating new narratives and design approaches for historic places Kelee has recolored dozens of wallpaper patterns from 1750 – 1940 and in the various slide images shown here. She regularly enlivens new patterns for her client projects and consults on custom colorations. Over 20 of these reimagined patterns are featured in the book Historic Style: Honoring the Past with Design for Today. Some are available in her collection with adelphipaperhangings.com
OF NOTE: Recolorations have included “Dolley Madison Damask” as seen at Montpelier. The Neoclassical Squares (shown right and in the slideshow here) were inspired by the film The Personal History of David Copperfield, which also features a turquoise reinvention of the Strawberry Hill Plaid pattern used by Wuthering Heights and Copperfield Set Designer Charlotte Dirickx.
